we are settled in
Hi Friend,
Joe and I are settled into an apartment in Decatur, Texas. A two-bedroom and two-bath unit. We have a one-year lease. We are on the third floor – a three-floor building. – in a corner unit. We have a corner view of a field next to us and another apartment building view straight in front of us. The complex was built about a year ago, and we are the first to live in our unit. So it’s nice, clean, fresh, and didn’t have to do deep spiritual cleaning, though we still prayed through it and anointed it.
Decatur is Northeast of Ft Worth, about 40 miles and about an hour south of Oklahoma. It has a little over 9 thousand residents.
After selling our home in Cleburne, Texas, in 2023, selling all our furniture, and living in a Fifth Wheel for three years, we had to start over buying furniture and the essentials we needed. It was fun picking out furniture, kitchen essentials, and decor, though we had to keep the limited space in mind. There is already a washer and dryer in the unit, so I was delighted.
So, what are we doing in Decatur? I am glad you asked. As I shared a few weeks ago, while in Oregon, we felt the Lord lead us to see our Fifth-wheel and come back to Texas to help Warrior Notes Ranch, founded by Kevin and Kathi Zadai.
Warrior Notes Texas Ranch – they have two others in NC and TN – is located in Bowie, Texas, about 30 miles north of us. The Lord has given a huge vision for this ranch and what it will do as a training center with Aviation and Horses, and as an Outreach center. Pastor Jan and Dale Simmons, who are part of the staff of Warrior Notes Ministries and travel with the Zadai to the spiritual school, are overseeing this Ranch. Joe and I are the first volunteers to help them, and we enjoy working alongside them. They are great leaders to come alongside with. So, far we have sanded and stained picnic tables and helped clean up areas that need cleaning.
Dr. Daniel Hobbs and his wife, Mis Gloria – the cowboy and his wife, you may see at spiritual school in Texas – are a huge part of the Ranch as they have donated property to the ministry and are hosting a Warrior Note Church – a little cowboy church. They have a beautiful, serving, loving heart to be at the command of Jesus. Also, Tom, who is Pastor Hobbs’ assistant, has an amazing divine story of how God connected them together – have a heart after God. The people attending the gathering Pastor Hobbs is overseeing are a great, wonderful group, and Joe has been enjoying getting to know them.
So far at the Ranch, they have built an arena where the new church – that’s starting in September – will be meeting. Still finishing up building the inside structure. They built the horse stable and are finishing up the inside structure. There is so much more to be done on the ranch to fulfill what God is calling this place to do for His Kingdom.
Joe and I don’t know how long we’ll be here. It could be for a year or a decade. We are taking one day at a time, following the Lord wherever he leads us.
Ministry is not always behind the pulpit but behind serving wherever the Lord calls. Through your career, raising children, outreach, missions, and interaction with people.
Who knew that seven years after hearing about Kevin Zadai, we would come help on one of the Ranches the Lord instructed him to start. That we would be part of the little cowboy church with the Cowboy and his wife, we would see online watching Spiritual School, and that we would be working alongside Pastor Jan and Dale Simmons, whom we would listen to at the spiritual school, online.
Who knows what God has already planned for your life, and you can experience it if you give Him your yes to being at His command.
I can tell you that it’s not always easy to follow, like leaving kids and grandkids, but I know that the Lord will reward us and the kids and grandkids for following Him.
What is the Lord putting on your heart to do to follow HIm? It doesn’t always mean relocating; it’s just about being present where you are and following His leading.
