Note to Soul

Soar Like the Eagles

We can learn from eagles how to handle storms in our lives.

Storms come and go in our lives. As long as we live here on Earth, we must face storms.

In my blog post “Face the Storm” We learned how Jesus handled the storm he faced by rebuking it, and it calmed down instantly at His command.

There are specific storms in our lives we are to rebuke and command to be still, and there are other storms in our lives that we are to rise above them.

Jesus instructed us in John 16:33

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] (AMP)

Jesus told us that we are going to have storms in our lives. He told us that we would have tribulations, but we were to stay in peace, for He had overcome it for us.

We will not be able to rise above the storm if we don’t embrace the peace Jesus has provided for us to walk in amid the chaos and destruction of the storm.

We are to rejoice when we face trials and tribulations, for it produces strength of character in our lives.  It’s not the trials and tribulations that build character in our lives; how we handle the trials and tribulations produces character in our lives.

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace[a] with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. – Romans 5:1-5 (NLT)

Eagles enjoy storms. They don’t escape storms but embrace them.

The mighty eagle noticed clouds gathering in the sky above her, and excitement started rising in her bosom.

She searched for a high spot, and as soon as she spotted one, she flew up to it, expecting the wind to come with the storm. For she knew the storm’s wind would lift her high above the storm.

As she senses the wind upon her, she expands the length of her mighty wings and allows the wind to lift her higher and higher above the storm.

She can rest in peace as the wind moves under her wings to glide her above the storm below her, causing her to miss the chaos that comes with the storm.

She knows as she is soaring above the storm, she is gaining new strength in her mighty wings.

She can enjoy herself as she embraces the calm sky above the storm and all the stillness and peace that comes with it.

When the storm passes, and as she lands in her nest, she is refreshed with new confidence in who she has become while gliding over the storm.

She gives her wings a little shake to feel the new strength that has developed in her wings doing her rest above the storm — a new strength that will make her mighty wings stronger to fly.

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] Will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun];They will run and not become weary,They will walk and not grow tired. – Isaiah 40:31

The eagle wasn’t fearful of the storm but embraced it fearlessly and used the wind of the storm to raise her higher and renew new strength in her wings.

So are we to embrace the storm with fearless eyes, staying in peace, knowing that Jesus has already overcome it all for us.

We are to keep our eyes focused on Jesus, keep our trust in Him, and not focus on the storm that’s coming, but allow the wind of Jesus to raise us above the storm and renew our new strength.
