What is Love

Love is not Jealous or Envious

Love –

The Greek language distinguishes at least six different ways as to how the word love is used.

Agape – is the most popular one used in the Christian world, to express the unconditional love of our Beloved, Heavenly Father.

Together, we are looking at the famous love chapter in the Bible for the next several weeks. A portion of 1 Corinthians 13. I will be using the Amplified Translation. You are free to look at different translations of your preference.

Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.

Today, we will be focusing on Love is not Jealous or Envious

Jealous – feeling resentment against someone because of that person’s rivalry, success, or advantages – feeling resentment because of another’s success, advantage, etc. – characterized by or proceeding from suspicious fears or envious resentment:

Envious –  a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another’s advantages, success, possessions, etc.

Love isn’t Jealous or Envious

Love rejoices when it sees others rise in their calling or receive the manifestation of what they believed in or a blessing bestowed upon the other.

A passionate heart desires to see those around walk in the fullness of everything God has for His children to step in. Knowing God isn’t respected will bestow His full blessing upon the one who desires to receive.

God bless those who rejoice for others in others who receive their blessings. It pleases His heart to see His children celebrate for each other.

When we start feeling jealous toward another, it’s wise to begin immediately rejoice. Start praising God for His goodness and blessing the precious soul.

Especially if it’s someone who, in our understanding and thoughts, believes they don’t deserve God’s Blessings because of a wrong they show forth toward us or another. It is a vital time to be rejoicing for them so our hearts will be in the right standing and pure toward God and others.

At times, we may feel a war between our flesh and spirit. But through the strength God gave us and the victory won by our Lord Jesus, He has overcome it all for us. We can embrace the victory over our flesh and walk out the love walk of the Lord toward the other.

Focusing on loving one another will override any desire to be jealous or envious of one another.
