Love –
The Greek language distinguishes at least six different ways as to how the word love is used.
Agape – is the most popular one used in the Christian world, to express the unconditional love of our Beloved, Heavenly Father.
Let’s take some time together and look at the famous love chapter in the Bible for the next several weeks, a portion of 1 Corinthians 13. I will be using the Amplified Translation, You are free to look at different translations of your preference.
4 Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. 5 It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. 6 It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. 7 Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].8 Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.
Today, we will be focusing on Love Endures with Patience and Serenity.
Endures – hold out against; sustain without impairment or yielding; – to bear without resistance or with patience; tolerate: –to admit of; allow; bear:
Patience – the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like – an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay – quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care
Serenity – the state or quality of being, serene calm, or tranquil; sereneness.
Living a life of Love is a daily choice we make.
Choosing to walk with patience and serenity is what we want to step in to show forth God’s love to others.
Showing forth toward our husbands, children, grandchildren, coworkers, friends, family members, and even strangers that no matter what they do or say, we will not lose our temper but stay calm.
We are putting our trust in the Lord to receive His love. It helps us to walk in a consistent, calm manner. Knowing the depth of His love for us and others will sustain us.
When we hide our hearts deeply in Him, we become more aware of His precious love for us, causing us to stay persistent with patience for others because no matter what they do, it can’t penetrate our hearts while hidden in Him.
Knowing no matter what others do against us, we can stay patiently loving them because it’s not being done personally toward us; it’s a manifestation of something deeply hidden in their heart.
As we mature in the Lord and His love, the more we can walk out this love with patience and serenity, bringing healing to others, bringing peace amid chaos, and putting a stop to strife. Keep the plans of the enemy far off and open the door wide open for God’s goodness and love.
The more we walk with patience, the stronger it will become in our lives and more comfortable to step in. The more we find peace manifested in our lives, the more we will draw others to know what that peace is.
