What is Love

Love Does Not Brag and Is Not Proud or Arrogant

Love –

We have been looking at a portion of 1 Corinthians 13, using the Amplified Translation.

Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening].Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.

Today, we will be focusing on Love Does Not Brag and Is Not Proud or Arrogant.

Brag – to use boastful language;

Proud – having, proceeding from, or showing a high opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, or superiority.- having or showing self-respect or self-esteem.

Arrogant –  making claims or pretensions to superior importance or rights; overbearingly assuming; insolently proud:

Love will not brag or be proud or arrogant.

When I look upon these words, I remember the scripture in Proverbs 27:2

Let another praise you, and not your own mouth;
A stranger, and not your own lips.

Every living being ever breathed upon this earth has, one way or another, walked in some level degree, bragging about oneself, having a proud attitude, or showing forth arrogance toward others. Some more so than others. Most are unaware of themselves doing so.

Insecurity in oneself brings them into a place of needing to brag about oneself.

One feeling inferior strives for the momentary gratification of walking in pride and arrogance, which, in the long term, brings more harm and opens the doors for sin to reign in one’s life.

The most significant example is when the prince of this earth decided to walk in pride – because he wanted to rise above God’s throne – instead of love and adoration to our beloved Heavenly Father.

God threw him out of heaven like lightning, according to the words of Jesus. Jesus said he saw it done, according to Luke 10:18.

Pride destroyed the prince of this earth’s position in heaven and brought evilness upon himself. Isaiah 14 12-14 and Ezekiel 28:14-18.

Walking in pride aligns us with the ways of the evil prince of this world, and walking in love aligns us with the ways of our loving Heavenly Father.

A choice is given to us daily.

When we find ourselves walking in pride, arrogance,e, or bragging about ourselves, we immediately repent, meaning to change one direction. There is no contamination but grace in our loving Heavenly Father’s arms.

We have our beloved Holy Spirit to help guide us into all truth and strengthen us to walk holy as God is sacred.

As we fully immerse ourselves in God’s presence and know the fullness of His love for us. We can find our security in Him, not feeling the insecurity driving us to brag about ourselves.

Let the Holy Spirit talk to our soul, exposing any insecurity and causing us to brag, be proud, or be arrogant.

Allow our beloved Heavenly Father to bestow His love upon us, saturating every part of our soul, flowing through every fiber of our being.
