Different individuals have different ways to soak in the presence of the Lord.
Some lock the door into a private room, as some call this a prayer closet. Some may have a blanket and a pillow to be comfortable. Some like to lie on the floor; others want to sit in a comfy chair or couch or stay on their bed.
The key is to be in a safe, comfortable place.
Some have Instrumental or soft worship music playing in the background to stir up the kind of atmosphere they want to create.
I like being in a quiet room with little twinkle lights or a soft, glow lamp.
I typically don’t have my Bible or notebook with me at this time unless the Holy Spirit guides me. Because this is a time to worship the Lord, minister to Him, and tell Him how beautiful He is to me.
Not a time of Him is talking to me of specific things, though at times He has. So be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, or have a Bible and notebook nearby in case.
I have a couple of memorable songs for Jesus and me; I would play them while visualizing us being together.
There is also a CD by a minister who recorded live music and his time soaking with the Lord, talking to him from his heart, and reading the Scripture. I will play when I need help with soaking.
Sometimes, I will have a soaking time in the comfort and warmth of my bed before I start my day. I have my phone with download-soaking music and headphones on my bed.
P.S. I am writing this blog post and the next one in the warm comfort of my bed on my phone. Teehee.
With this soaking time with our precious Lord, it’s so vital that we learn to discipline our minds to focus on Him and not let them wander. Do not focus on your to-do list that needs to be done. Do not take this time to think about your past mistakes. Please leave it in the past; think about the presence. Don’t think about anyone else but your Heavenly Father.
You are to give your whole undivided attention to our precious Lord.
Disciplining your mind will take time and practice, but you got this girl. You can do it.
When I first started with soaking worship, being still before our precious Heavenly Father, worshiping Him. The first three to five minutes felt like an eternity. Those minutes seemed slow, and I didn’t sense the presence of the Lord.
I would think, how do intercessors, who are called to pray for hours upon hours, do this? Just three to five minutes feels like a toil to me.
But, the more I continued to press through having soaking time with our beloved Lord. Those three to five minutes of eternity toil turned into one to three hours of pure pleasure. Now, I can sense the presence of the Lord around me. I did not want to end my time with Him. Feeling as if time went too fast, wanting more time with Him.
I am always looking forward to spending time with Him.
Now I understand how intercessors can spend hours upon hours praying. Plus, they have the grace to do so, as it’s their calling.
Practicing soaking time with the Lord has also taught me to be in His presence within minutes, anywhere I am. Whether it’s doing my private time, worshipping at church, driving the car, or shopping for groceries.
I can tap into His presence anywhere at any time. It’s a sweet spot between my precious Heavenly Father and me.
Visualizing yourself with the Lord is the most rewarding time.
Visualizing is to recall or form images or pictures in your mind or imagination.
I talk a little about visualizing yourself with the Lord in my post.
