Are you an encourager or a discouraged person? Do you look for ways to encourage others around you, or do you find yourself bringing discouragement into their lives?
Are there times you know that you should encourage someone, but you want to complain instead? And you want to see discouragement in their lives?
There were times I didn’t want to encourage specific individuals when I should do so. Instead, I wanted to see discouragement in their lives because they may have done something that brought me pain, frustration, hurt, or disappointment.
I have also experienced not wanting to encourage individuals because of jealousy. I see something in their life that I wanted in my life.
It’s pitiful when we want to see discouragement in someone else’s life instead of bringing encouragement to them because of our hurts and pride.
Living our lives isn’t about living our lives for ourselves but Jesus. Jesus instructs us to encourage one another.
Jesus has made us bring our pain and pride before Him and lay it at His feet. We are allowing Him to fill us up with His love so we can bestow love upon others and encourage them.
Immediately, I repent when I find my heart in a place because of pain or pride, wanting to see discouragement in an individual’s life.
I will go before Jesus and bring those individuals to Him and start praying for blessings upon them. Then, I chose to change my heart and turn my attitude around.
Soon after, I sense the presence of Jesus with me. And I find myself wanting the best for those individuals and wanting to bring encouragement into their lives.
My words toward them in person or behind doors become words of love and life instead of complaining or fault-finding.
Encouraging Words are Honey to Our Soul.
We all need to receive encouragement from one another.
When we find ourselves in need of encouragement, we can find it in God’s Word.
God’s word brings the most satisfaction and encouragement in every area of our lives. Searching for support in His word will help us to persevere in the purpose He has called us to fulfill.
Seek His Word first, and what we receive from others receive as a bonus and not a replacement for what God’s Words say of us.
Look for ways to bring encouragement to others. Through honey, sweet words. A smile or a hug. Allow yourself to be led by the Holy Spirit to bring support to others around you.
