Hanging out in Redmond, Oregon
Hi Friends,
We arrived in Oregon on September 5th.
We first stopped in Nampa, Idaho, and spent two days with my sister, brother, and his family before coming into Oregon. Then, we dropped off our fifth wheel at my parents’ house and headed over to the coast the next day to surprise my kids. They knew we were coming to the northwest but expected us later in the month. We were able to attend the baby shower for our second grandchild, who is expected at any time, as of this writing, and spend time with the kids and granddaughter.
On our way to the Northwest, we stopped in Concordia, Missouri, where Joe’s spiritual mother, Katheryn Kuhlman, was born and received her calling to share the Good News of Jesus. We weren’t able to take the tour of her life, but we were able to see the monument made in her remembrance and the church where she felt God’s calling on her life. It was a blessing for Joe as he had a tremendous love, adoration, and respect for Kathryn.
What we have been doing since we arrived in Oregon.
We have been hanging out with my dad and bonus mom as we are parked in their driveway. We visited some lakes in Central Oregon and spent time with extended family members. Additionally, I had coffee with an ex-co-worker when I lived and worked for the school district, years ago.
We also had an incident. We traveled almost three thousand miles from Florida to Oregon without any issues, Praise the Lord, but when we went to the coast to surprise the kids, a deer ran into the side of our truck. So, we will be taking it to an auto body shop, hopefully next week, to get it fixed.
Joe’s body is healing! Praise God!
During the Summer in Florida, Joe’s arms developed a rash on both of them. It was a very uncomfortable experience for him, and the heat and the humidity aggravated it even more. He thought it was mice, the ER doctor said it was eczema, and the VA doctor on Zoom wasn’t sure what it was. A pharmacy DR said maybe Shingles. So many medications, steroids given to him, and frustrations, etc..
We, of course, went to the Word of God declaring healing. But it wasn’t until we arrived in Oregon and saw my aunt, a nurse, who confirmed that the rash was nothing like what the doctor had said, and encouraged us to consult a dermatologist. Then my dad looked at it and said It looks more like a reaction of some sort. So Joe and I started putting the two together. About the time the rash developed on his arms, he was given some medication for the issue he was dealing with. Joe stopped taking the medication, and the rash is clearing up. His body is healing, and he is able to sleep again, feeling comfortable.
What is next in Oregon?
We are scheduled to visit the coast of Oregon, specifically Myrtle Point, which is located near Coos Bay, on October 1st. We will be staying at Romote Outpost for the winter. It’s where we stayed for a year after buying the fifth wheel, before heading to Florida in June 2024. We may be arriving later than the 1st due to the truck being fixed.
We plan to be in Oregon for the Winter, and when Spring comes, I don’t know where we are going. Joe would like to go back to Florida to finish school. We are at the Beck n Call wherever the Lord leads.
Adventurous yet unexplainable.
In the past, people who weren’t stationary in one place for a long time and didn’t have plans and goals for the next year or more, I would often be perceived as unstable and out of alignment with God’s plans, which was true for some, but not for others.
Here we are with one of those people who live in a fifth world, have no plans, no idea what tomorrow holds, but take one day at a time and are ready at His beck and call. So far, the routine has been to spend time with the kids for a while and then head out somewhere, returning to them afterward.
It’s fun, but I feel like a nomad. LOL. I want that strong community, and when we’re developing one, we pick up and leave. However, I do think that the friendships we are forming are for life; it will come to a complete understanding of how our relationships will be intertwined with our callings and ministries.
I am grateful that we do have a fifth wheel to call home and feel like home in this season of life. Eventually, I would like to have a stationary home again when the time is right. There is so much grace right now to do what the Lord is leading us to do.
